When the formerly named Airwave approached us, they were in the process of creating the world’s best ‘standing wave’ technology for surfers. Unlike existing (and disappointing) standing waves, their impressive unit allows surfers to easily alter the face of the wave for surfers with different skill levels - producing both left and right hand breaks, barrelling waves and front-on waves.

The wave form is based around the physics of a river wave where water flows down over a rock face and hits the water creating a small river wave. The fluid based wave form and inflatable surroundings create impact resistance much like a bouncy castle, therefore wipe-outs become fun and exciting.

Honing in on the way their technology produces a customisable ‘personal’ wave, we renamed the company YourWave.

The brand identity expresses this concept through the use of a customisable logo and a set of variable 'W' graphics that represent different wave types and surfer experience levels. A flexible and unique system which we created to enable the YourWave team to continue to develop their product overtime, and show the variability in wave types they can create. We have worked with existing photography from their prototype until they formally release their core product into market.

We created a brand identity which reflects this customisation. A unique variable 'W' graphic system is used to describe the variety of waves and surfers who ride them, and through application, capture the essence of surf culture.
